Moonshell Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I have to register as a Developer with Apple?No you do not. We can release the app using our developer registration. If you are a registered developer and you prefer to use your registration then we can provide you with the compiled code and you can submit it yourself, or you can provide us with temporary access to your account.
2. Can we charge for the app?
Yes you can, however if you do you will need to obtain your own Apple developer registration so that Apple can pay you directly.
3. Do we need to adhere Apples policies?
Yes you do. Apple has very strict policies on the content and apps it allows. You need to familiarize yourself with these policies and make sure your app adheres. In general you can not do anything unlawful, Apps can not contain pornographic material, and you can not create apps that compete with Apple. You will also need to comply with Apple’s iPhone Human Interface Guidelines. You can find these at http://www.docstoc.com/docs/418559/iPhones-Human-Interface-Guidelines. Apple rigorously tests apps before it allows them in the App store.
4. Can you guarantee my app will be released?
No we can not. Apple has final say on allowing the app. We have no influence on this. We are very experienced in dealing with the Apple review process and we will let you know if we think your app will have problems in getting approved.
5. How fast can you get the App released?
We will pretest your App within two business days after you have it finished. Once we feel it has a good chance of being allowed we will submit it to Apple. The Apple review process currently takes between one and two weeks on average. However, individual review times may vary widely and some apps are held up by Apple for many weeks. Again, we have no influence on this but most apps are available in the iTunes App store within two weeks after submission to us.
6. What are your charges?
There is a one-time charge of $695 for Moonshell. This includes two pretests and two submissions to Apple. We charge $95 for additional submissions. Moonshell is a platform that is created for experienced web developers who are experts at HTML, CSS and Javascript. If you need help with this we can do so on an hourly basis.
7. Can we release upgrades to our App?
Yes, anytime. Your app consists of the pages you serve from your server. This means that you can change the data and change the pages you serve at any time. This does not require updates from Moonshell and it does not require resubmission to Apple. You only need to make sure you continue to adhere to Apples policies when you make changes.
8. Can we release an Intranet App to a selected group?
Yes, you can. If you have an app that you want to make available to a certain group of people but not to the general public then we can release this as an ‘ad-hoc’ app. This app will not be distributed through the Apple App store. The apps are linked to each user ID and they can not be copied onto other iPhones. This means that the information you exchange in this app is secure unless an iPhone is stolen (after which moment we can shut out that particular iPhone). You can also require login passwords when starting up the app. Some extra distribution charges apply.
9. Are you part of Apple
No we are not. Moonshadow eCommerce is not part of Apple, Corp. and does not represent Apple in any way. We are an independent developer of Internet and mobile technology.
10. How do I get started?
